The Toronto SCRABBLE® Club (North American SCRABBLE Players Association (NASPA) Club #3) hosts a new tournament this fall, an open SCRABBLE® Brand Crossword Game tournament held as part of The Great Canadian Game Show. This event will be organized and directed by Toronto SCRABBLE Club Director and NASPA Copresident John Chew.

Format: Prizes awarded several times each day for a variety of single-game challenges. Not rated. One open division, Chew pairings. Players must pay additional entry fee to enter the game show ($12/day with coupon from show website). NASPA Sanctioned.
Food: Available from show vendors.
Location: All events will be held in the SCRABBLE room at the Great Canadian Game Show, which is being held in the International Centre, 6900 Airport Rd, Mississauga ON. Lost or late? Call John Chew at (416) 876–7675.

Accommodation

The International Centre is very close to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), and nearby hotel accommodation is plentiful.

International Travel

As per the United States’ Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, a WHTI-compliant document (such as a passport or enhanced driver's licence) is required for returning to the United States from Canada, even on land.

The nearest U.S. airport is Buffalo International Airport (BUF). Megabus operates bus service four times daily between BUF and YYZ, with one-way fares ranging from $1 to $20.

Registration

Send your entry fee to John Chew, 9 Fulton Avenue, Toronto ON M4K 1X6 by Wednesday, October 28th, 2008. Space is limited to 32 players, on a first come basis. Entries after that date (including walk-ins) will be accepted on a space-available basis, paid in cash. You may also pay John in person at the Toronto Scrabble Club most Wednesday evenings, or by INTERAC Email. Please include your name, telephone number, address, and valid NASPA membership number.
